As a comic of six years Victor had many great ideas he wanted
to bring to television. But after putting many ideas to television
execs, he quickly realised that getting programmes on television
wasn’t that easy. So he formed his own production company
that would allow him to produce theatre shows that will then later
be pitched to television companies.
Victor isn’t really your traditional comic, his funny
and not just his routines. As a youngster living in Stoke Newington
Victor would often go out on the street with the sole aim to make
people laugh. At the age of 11 he was sent to boarding school because
his mum didn’t love him (don’t tell him). Infact he
went to two boarding schools, one called, ‘Wolverstone Hall’.
And another called, ‘Bridlington’. The first school
was designed for inner city kids, so you could imagine there were
some tough kids there. So Victor had to use his comedy skills to
keep the older kids from taking his food and pocket money. After
only two years the school lost its funding and Victor and the other
kids had to move to other schools.
Victor went to a ‘Bridlington Boarding school’.
This was a total culture shook for Victor as him and his five friends
as they were the only black kids in the town let alone the school.
Being a black kid from the ghettos of London Victor learnt a lot
about middle class white people. He even feels that his experience
has helped him through his comedy career by allowing him to appeal
to people of all colours.
